Our Story
Fountain of Life Harrismith is a contemporary, relational church family grounded in grace, authenticity, and meaningful community. We exist to create an environment where people encounter God, grow spiritually, and experience real connection with others, regardless of background or life stage.
Over the years, the church has developed into a welcoming spiritual home shaped by faithful leadership, biblical teaching, and a strong sense of belonging. The congregation reflects people from many walks of life who gather around a shared desire to know Jesus and live out their faith in everyday life.
Our Heart and Vision
We see the church as a spiritual family where people are known, valued, and encouraged. Our vision is to cultivate a culture rooted in grace, truth, and relationship, allowing people to grow in faith within a healthy community.
Our heart is to:
- Welcome the lost, the found, and everyone in between
- Build authentic relationships marked by care and honesty
- Encourage spiritual growth through grace and discipleship
- Create space for every generation to thrive together
We believe the Holy Spirit actively works within His people, empowering them to bring Godโs goodness into their homes, workplaces, and community.
Who We Are as a Community
Fountain of Life carries a strong family identity and a contemporary expression of faith. The atmosphere is relational, approachable, and centered on genuine fellowship. Members include English-speaking families alongside a strong Afrikaans presence, and many personal conversations and interviews within the church naturally happen in Afrikaans.
Our services and teaching are presented in English so that people from different backgrounds can gather together with clarity and unity. Language is never a barrier to belonging. The church reflects the local culture where English and Afrikaans live side by side comfortably.
Inclusivity is one of our foundational values. Fountain of Life does not classify or value people according to race, background, social standing, or personal history. Every person is welcomed with dignity and respect. We are committed to building a community where people from all cultures and walks of life can worship, grow, and serve together.
Leadership and Elders
Our leadership serves with humility, wisdom, and a heart for people. They provide spiritual oversight, pastoral care, and guidance that support the health and growth of the church family.

Our History
Fountain of Life Harrismith has deep roots in the local community and a history shaped by faithful leadership and Godโs direction.
The current church family was formed in 2015 through the merging of two local congregations. One congregation was planted in Harrismith in 2009 under the leadership of John Veitch, whose ministry began in 2001. The merger united people who shared a common vision for a grace-centered, Holy Spirit-led church grounded in biblical teaching and authentic relationships.
From its earliest days, the church has emphasized sincerity, spiritual growth, and genuine community. Fountain of Life has grown into a multigenerational church family where people are encouraged to know Jesus personally and live out their faith in everyday life.
Today, the church continues to build on this foundation, serving Harrismith through Christ-centered teaching, relational community, and an open welcome to all.

The Meaning Behind Our Name & Logo
Our name and logo express the heart and identity of Fountain of Life as a church family. The circular design reflects wholeness, unity, and belonging โ a visual reminder that every person has a place within the community. At the center sits a flowing spiral formed by blue and teal nodes, symbolizing life flowing outward from a single source.
Living Water
The spiral reflects the image of a fountain, representing life, refreshment, and the presence of God flowing into people and through the community. It captures the idea of living water extending outward to bring renewal and hope.
Growth
The unfolding shape communicates growth and maturity. Like patterns found in nature, it reflects spiritual development that begins from a strong center and expands as people grow together in faith.
Community
The spiral is made up of connected points rather than a single solid line. Each point represents an individual life, and together they form something stronger โ a connected community built on relationship, support, and shared faith.
Intergenerational Strength
The colour palette tells an important story. Dark navy represents trust, stability, and wisdom often carried by mature believers. Light teal represents energy, life, and new beginnings. Together, they express a full-circle community where generations support one another and grow side by side.
